Bristow Group Wins UK Search and Rescue Award

Tuesday 26 March, 2013 - Bristow Group announced today that The Department for Transport in the United Kingdom has awarded its UK affiliate Bristow Helicopters Limited (Bristow Helicopters) a new contract to provide civilian Search and Rescue (SAR) services for all of the UK. The SAR services contract has a phased-in transition period beginning in April 2015 and continuing to July 2017 and a contract length of approximately ten years.

Under the terms of this contract, Bristow Helicopters will provide 11 Sikorsky S-92 and 11 AgustaWestland AW189 helicopters that will be located at ten bases across the UK. Each SAR base will operate either two S-92s or two AW189s. In addition to the ten bases with 20 aircraft, there will be two fully SAR-equipped training aircraft that can be deployed to any base as needed. -- more

Sikorsky S-92s included in new UK Search & Rescue contract

Tuesday 26 March, 2013 - The UK Government's Department for Transport has announced the signing of a contract with Bristow Helicopters Ltd to provide search and rescue helicopter services in the UK. A new £1.6 billion contract for search and rescue helicopter services will see the UK benefit from improved flying times and better coverage of high-risk areas. Helicopters will be able to reach a larger area of the UK search and rescue region within one hour of take off than is currently possible, and based on historic incident data it is estimated that there will be an overall improvement in flying times to incidents of around 20% (from 23 to 19 minutes). -- more

FAA Approves Type Certification for S-76D Helicopter

October 15, 2012 - STRATFORD, Connecticut - The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the Type Certificate for the S-76D helicopter, moving the aircraft forward to its highly anticipated delivery into the medium-sized marketplace. The FAA signed the certificate on Oct. 12, capping an intensive flight test program to introduce the S-76D helicopter, Sikorsky’s newest commercial product. The S-76D helicopter has a current backlog approaching a half-billion dollars and is expected to begin deliveries later this quarter. -- more

Sikorsky Receives S-76D™ Helicopter Order from Air Engiadina

February 14, 2012 - DALLAS, Texas - Sikorsky Aircraft, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), has received an order for one S-76D™ helicopter from Swiss-based Air Engiadina. "We thank Air Engiadina for their confidence in Sikorsky Aircraft products," said Alex Sharp, Sikorsky European Regional Sales Manager. "The S-76D helicopter will bring outstanding safety, reliability, proven performance and value." Air Engiadina, as owner, has operated an S-76A+™ for more than 20 years in the VIP transport role in the United Kingdom under PremiAir Aviation’s air operator certificate. The company added an S-76C++™ helicopter in 2009. The new S-76D aircraft will be operated in the UK or Switzerland for VIP and passenger flights. Sikorsky will deliver the new EASA-certified aircraft to Air Engiadina’s European operation in 2013. November 17, 2009 - Sikorsky BLACK HAWK helicopters flown by the U.S. Army in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of war have accumulated more than 1 million fleet flight hours without a single Class A material failure with the aircraft, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. reported today from the Dubai Air Show. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.

The U.S. Army currently operates more than 350 BLACK HAWK helicopters combined in these two Overseas Contingency Operations. BLACK HAWK helicopters have flown these missions since February 2003 and are maintaining an 84 percent mission capable readiness rate while operating in the extreme heat, wind, and sand conditions. -- more

Sikorsky Aircraft Delivers New VIP S-76C++ Helicopter to U.K. Royal Household

November 04, 2009 - Sikorsky Global Helicopters, a business unit of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., has delivered a new VIP S-76C++™ helicopter to the Royal Travel Office for use by the Royal Household of the United Kingdom. Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.

Sikorsky has provided helicopters to support the Royal Family since the early 1950’s, including the R4, S-51, S-55, S-58, S-58T, S-76B and the S-76C+ helicopters. The new S76C++ helicopter entered service in September. -- more

Offshore Logistics commits to S-76 with 35 orders and 24 options

PARIS AIR SHOW, June 14 – Sikorsky Aircraft today announced a contract to deliver 35 new S-76 helicopters to Offshore Logistics, Inc., the world's largest provider of helicopter transportation services to the oil and gas industry.
The contract, one of the largest single civil helicopter orders in Sikorsky's history, includes options for an additional 24 S-76 aircraft. The aircraft will be used to support Offshore Logistics' customers across the world through its various strategic business units. -- more
